Barrel Aged Week 2019

Town Hall brewery in Minneapolis will be showcasing their special barrel aged beers again this year during the week of February 18th.

An entire week devoted to Town Hall Brewery’s Barrel-Aged beers. Includes varied samplers, multiple beer releases through the week, limited release growlers, and a fantastic multi-coursed beer pairing dinner.

Several members of the club have carried on a tradition of going down to the Cities on Friday of that week, so we can taste all of the beers released. Everyone is welcome to join us, the more the merrier. Really, we mean it! Send a note if you are interested in carpooling.

We usually find a little time to hit one of the other breweries along the Green Line, and find more good food. Don’t miss out on this fun event.

Oktoberfest Tasting September 23rd 4-7 pm

The Boreal Brewers Homebrew Club will be keeping the Community Oktoberfest tradition alive this year.  We’ll be hosting a homebrew tasting event at the future site of Klockow Brewing Company, who has graciously allowed us to use their parking lot for the afternoon.

We’re promoting it via our Facebook page, so follow this link for more details.

If you are a member of our club, see the previous post for how you might be able to help out at the event.

Annual Deer River Bar-b-que & Brew Fest

Coming Soon – July 18, 2015

Deer River will be smokin’ for the 6th Annual Deer River Bar-b-que and Brew Fest, Saturday, July 18th, 2015 at White Oak Learning Center in Deer River.

The event will kick-off as pit and brew teams assemble for the competition. The Burners and Smokers will be creating their best renditions of low and slow beef brisket, pork, ribs and chicken. Brewers will be chilling down their favorite recipes in up to four styles – IPA (India Pale Ale), Stout/Porter, Lager and Brewer’s Choice. All will be competing for awards and bragging rights.

The Boreal Brewers Homebrew Club is usually well represented, and we hope to have a big showing this year too.  Join us, as well as brewers from the Cities and Duluth and all around the Northland for a great day and evening of fun.

You can enter your brew in a BJCP competition and get some feedback on the style that you submit.  You do not have to enter the competition to participate, but it is a nice way to get some objective feedback about your beer.  See the event site for more details…

Post a comment about the beer you will be bringing to the event for public tasting.  Or, comment about what you would like to see someone else bring.

Several of us camp out the evening of the event, and all brewers are welcome to join us.  We pull out the reserves, have a nice campfire and great food, and swat a few mosquitoes if needed 🙂

We hope to see you there.

Big Brew May 2, 2015

Celebrate National Homebrew Day

Big Brew may 2, 2015 @ ZorbazIn 1988, May 7 was announced before Congress as National Homebrew Day. The American Homebrewers Association (AHA) created AHA Big Brew as an annual event to celebrate National Homebrew Day around the world. AHA Big Brew is held each year on the first Saturday in May.

The Boreal Brewers Homebrew Club is holding its registered Big Brew event this year, and we are being hosted by Zorbaz on Pokegama Lake.  So, invite your friends and family, gather around the brew kettle and join us in the global celebration of the greatest hobby there is—homebrewing!

We’ll provide a tasting, so there will be a chance to sample some of the beers that we’ll be brewing.  Zorbaz will be open too, with their full menu and craft beers on tap.

Need info about this year’s brews?  Check out the AHA website.  Reply and let us know if you plan to brew with us.  We look forward to seeing you there.
