Celebrate National Homebrew Day

Big Brew may 2, 2015 @ ZorbazIn 1988, May 7 was announced before Congress as National Homebrew Day. The American Homebrewers Association (AHA) created AHA Big Brew as an annual event to celebrate National Homebrew Day around the world. AHA Big Brew is held each year on the first Saturday in May.

The Boreal Brewers Homebrew Club is holding its registered Big Brew event this year, and we are being hosted by Zorbaz on Pokegama Lake.  So, invite your friends and family, gather around the brew kettle and join us in the global celebration of the greatest hobby there is—homebrewing!

We’ll provide a tasting, so there will be a chance to sample some of the beers that we’ll be brewing.  Zorbaz will be open too, with their full menu and craft beers on tap.

Need info about this year’s brews?  Check out the AHA website.  Reply and let us know if you plan to brew with us.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Big Brew Day – May 5th

AHA Big Brew

Big Brew is a celebration of National Homebrew Day. Each year homebrewers around the world invite family and friends to their brewing site on the first Saturday in May to celebrate the holiday. Everyone is encouraged to help out with the brew, enjoy the fun and join in on a world-wide toast at noon CDT.

Each year the Big Brew event features a recipe that brewers all over the world do in honor of the event.  This year’s recipes are the Bucksnort Brown Ale and the Ardley Brown Ale.  The Bucksnort is an American ale, and the Ardley is a Northern English ale.  The recipes are posted on the AHA website.  Check it out and join us on the 5th.

The Boreal Brewers will be participating in the Big Brew.  Home brewers and their guests are welcome.  If you want to join us, please leave a comment below, and we’ll get back to you on the location.
