Big Brew ??

So, we missed big brew in May.  Well, it was kinda intentional.  The weather is really iffy the first Saturday of May, and we opted not to chance it.  If it;s too cold, nobody shows up, and if it’s nice, it is usually the first nice weekend of the year, and people just….

Anyway, at our late April meeting, we decided to try a brew event in June.  It’s a bid late to post this, and I apologize in advance, but what do you think of an event on June 8th or 15th (both on a Saturday)?  Please let us know via this survey  (click here) and let us know if you are interested and can help out.

This time of year should yield a bigger crowd or at least a decent number of interested folks.  Please respond soon, so we can commit (or not) by this weekend.

Thanks in advance,

Chad H

Oktoberfest Tasting September 23rd 4-7 pm

The Boreal Brewers Homebrew Club will be keeping the Community Oktoberfest tradition alive this year.  We’ll be hosting a homebrew tasting event at the future site of Klockow Brewing Company, who has graciously allowed us to use their parking lot for the afternoon.

We’re promoting it via our Facebook page, so follow this link for more details.

If you are a member of our club, see the previous post for how you might be able to help out at the event.

Keeping the Oktoberfest Tradition Alive in Grand Rapids

The GRACF decided that they would not be able to hold their Oktoberfest celebration this year. :-(.  We discussed this at the club leadership, and decided to take action to keep the tradition alive.  So…

We are planning an Oktoberfest event for Saturday, September 23rd from 4-7pm in the parking lot of the soon to open Klockow Brewing Company.  They have graciously allowed us to use their parking lot.  They won’t be open yet, and won’t have beer to serve, but Andy and Tasha are gracious hosts.

We need your help to keep Oktoberfest alive in Grand Rapids. We don’t know how big will turn out, but whether it’s 50 or 250 folks that show , we plan to have fun anyway.

The club will provide the following:

  • Tasting cups
  • Rinse pails and water
  • Wrist bands
  • Music
  • Our Banner
  • and we’re working on advertising on social media, signage, a grill for members to use

We’re also working on getting a food truck to show up, and if we can show enough people responding on Facebook, it may help.

How can you help?

  1.  Promote our event on Facebook and twitter.  I have link to the Facebook event here:  https://www.facebook.com/events/1909038676082005/
  2. Respond to our survey (google form) on whether or not you can attend, help out, provide beer, etc.

Thanks, have a home brew.

When booking use the group code “NAS.” (Look for the group code field when you search for rooms).

Entry registration opens January 6.  Once again they’ll be collecting entries at the Minnesota Mashout for all those who participate in this competition and wish to drop off entries at Summit.  To enter beers, register to judge or steward or purchase banquet tickets, please use this link http://www.northernalestars.net/events.html
