The Boreal Brewers Homebrew Club will be meeting on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016 at 6pm @ KAXE. The address is 260 NE 2nd Street, in Grand Rapids.
We’ll recap the year’s activities, eat some food, and of course, drink some home brew.
We might even think of some business to conduct. If you have some ideas for themes for our upcoming meetings, bring them on Wednesday.
I hope to see you there.
Our next regular meeting will be on Wednesday, April 20th @ 6pm.
Chad H will be hosting the group at his house. We have a bunch of planning to do for events coming in the next few weeks, and we hope for a good attendance.
We’ll have brats, quinoa fruit salad and plenty of homebrew. You’re welcome to bring refreshments or a treat too.
Chad will showcase the Electric brewery that drives his brewing efforts.
Members can reply to the webmaster when you get the notice of this posting and we’ll send directions to Chad’s house via email.
See you Wednesday!
The first five scheduled Boreal Brewers meetings in 2016 are on the calendar.
We will meet:
Wednesday January 20
Wednesday February 24
Wednesday March 23
Wednesday April 20
Saturday May 7 (Big Brew Day)
The Wednesday meetings will be in the Boardroom at KAXE in Grand Rapids, and will run from 6:00 – 8:30 PM. At our December meeting, Spook showed an extremely cool handmade stainless in-line hop infuser, designed to work with a pump circulating from the primary fermentor.
This led to discussion of focusing each upcoming meeting on specific themes; home made equipment, arcane techniques, specialty beer styles, ciders, sours and other options. It sounded like nearly everyone had something they had designed themselves and would like to show to others; from built-in electric brewing systems to inexpensive keg washers. Save the dates for the meetings, and watch for an agenda and meeting theme as they approach.
It’s time to have a club meeting, squeezing it in before Christmas week. We’ll meet at the KAXE Boardroom in Grand Rapids, Wednesday, December 16th @ 6:00 – 9:00 at the latest.
It’s time to pull out some brews that haven’t been shared for a while. I’ve got a Dopplebock and two Oktoberfests left over from the GR Oktoberfest this last fall. And some potluck action – bring something if you can, but don’t stay away if you can’t.
We’ll review all the activities we did in 2015, and there were a lot. We’ll discuss activities for 2016. We will finalize a choice on club T shirts, possible other apparel and tasting glasses. And, we need to talk about a plan to do a brewery tour in Duluth, around February. Community education is willing to run the logistics to get a bus, and drive us around to do a day of tours around Duluth, and maybe Superior, visiting and tasting at multiple breweries, brewpubs and the Vikre distillery. We just need to set up visits with the individual breweries. We figure a Saturday would be best.
Come on out and help us plan our year of brewing and tasting events, and share some camaraderie, brews and snacks.
KAXE Boardroom, Wednesday December 16th, 6:00 PM or so.
